“When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say,
For Their Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today”
2011 saw a special year for the annual Remembrance services as it marked the 90th Anniversary of the founding of the Royal British Legion.
Weaver and Cuddington Councillors Charles Fifield, Alan McKie and John Grimshaw, along with Cllrs Andrew Dawson, Les Ford, Ralph Oultram and Lunn Riley were pleased to be able to help by supporting a special 90th Anniversary event organised by the RBL North Cheshire Group in Runcorn on October 23rd, in honour of Sgt of the 1st Mercian (Cheshire) Regiment who lost his life on active service in 2010.
For Remembrance Sunday weekend itself, Cllr Fifield went to the 11am Remembrance Service at Weaverham St Mary’s Church on Friday 11 November, Cllr Grimshaw went to the 11am Remembrance Service at St Hohn the Evangelist Sandiway Church on Sunday 13 November and Cllrs Fifield, Grimshaw and McKie all attended the Weaverham St Mary’s Church Service at 3pm on Sunday 13 November.
