PUBLIC INQUIRY INTO PROPOSED ENERGY FROM WASTE PLANT TO BE AIRED ONLINE

11 October 2011 by

People in Northwich unable to attend a public inquiry into a proposed energy from waste plant can watch proceedings from the comfort of their homes – thanks to local Councillors.

A group of 17 Northwich and Winsford Councillors including Weaver & Cuddington Councillors Charles Fifield, John Grimshaw and Alan McKie have pooled their personal budgets to fund a live webcast of the inquiry, which opens today (Tuesday), following calls from local residents.

A planning application for the plant from Tata Chemicals Europe was rejected by Cheshire West and Chester Council earlier this year.

The total cost of the webcast – which is being facilitated by the Council – is £9,481.00.

The inquiry is expected to last 18 days. The proceedings will be available to view at www.cheshirewestandchester.public-i.tv
